background
Jacob is a Resident in Counseling who holds a Bachelor's in Psychology from Wheaton College, and a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University. He seeks to create a safe environment where clients can understand their experience more deeply and find healing. Jacob has experience working with under-served teens, families, and adults experiencing anxiety, relationship issues, and trauma recovery.
The verse that Jacob resonates with in counseling is Psalm 46:10 "Be still and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Jacob wanted to become a counselor because he felt so cared for in his own experiences as a client. He has seen the value and beauty in a client coming to know that they are not alone in their hardest experiences, and another person can be present with them in suffering. Learning a new piece of information or skill can improve someone's experience in life. It is a blessing to witness people utilize their resources and experience growth.
Jacob notes “We are built for relationships, and it is in relationship that healing can happen. The experience of meeting with a counselor regularly to practice paying attention to your internal world, being vulnerable, and experiencing safety can help reshape how you think, feel, and behave. You are not alone in your challenges.”
