After noticing an increase in anxiety, I decided to contact Restoration counseling. I was immediately contacted by email with an appointment a few days later. This was just the beginning of an exceptional experience.

We won!

A big thank you to our amazing clients for voting Restoration the best Counseling Center in 2019 with the Charlottesville Award Program.

The Lord heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
— Psalm 147:3

We’ve been apart of the healing process for two clients that have published their stories. Break Every Chain has also been turned into a movie which is on Amazon Prime.

I started seeing McKenzie after a few years of built up hardship led anxiety, OCD tendencies, and distance from God. I had lost a baby, moved far away and lost community, and was feeling generally like a shell of myself. She patiently, kindly, and compassionately led me through sessions where we could unpack and address my goals. I felt understood, listened to, and led. Her ability to do all this while also leading me back to Christ each session was a gift to me. I have already recommended McKenzie to a friend and would absolutely recommend her to anyone...

I went to Bruce while experiencing some serious depression after a traumatic event in my family. With his help, wisdom, and compassion I was able to process through everything. Through his gentle demeanor, he provided a warm and welcoming environment. It was also helpful to have someone outside of my church circle who understands and can relate to my role in ministry. I cannot express my gratitude for his friendship and pastoral counseling in my time of need. Without my time with him, I would not be the husband, father and pastor that I am today.

When I met Morgan, I was truly amazed at the warmth and genuine care she bestowed on me. She has an incredible way of bringing to light the root or cause of pain. I lost my mom when I was 21 years old and she has allowed me to heal and grieve her loss, which now allows me to live a full, joyful life. For the first Christmas in 14 years, I am able to truly enjoy this season, while recognizing the sadness that comes with loss. I can both enjoy this time of year and miss her. Morgan has a true gift, that anyone would be greatly benefited by. Over the course of several months, Morgan gave me many “tools” and words of wisdom, that I will always treasure.

Following a devastating divorce at a young age that came with emotional and verbal abuse, as well as years of worry and self-image problems, I was desperate for some Christ-centered help and reached out to Restoration Counseling. I was matched with Gigi and we immediately hit it off. She was so instrumental in helping me work through all of my issues. Her technique in using spirit-led prayer truly set her apart from others who I had spoken to. I found true long-term relief spiritually and physically from shame, worry, and feelings of guilt. She has a gift from the Lord and He is using her in mighty ways! I recommend her to everyone and am forever grateful for her help during this difficult time of transition.

I started counseling with Lynn during a very difficult time in my life. I lost a close relative just days before having a 2nd baby, was far away from family and my husband was extremely busy working and being in his thesis semester of graduate school. The grief, stress and exhaustion quickly led to a severe case of postpartum anxiety and depression. When I first met with Lynn, about 4 months postpartum, I was such a mess. I was having trouble thinking clearly. Lynn helped me to see my symptoms for what they were - something caused by my illness. We went through my cognitive distortions and slowly, over the course of our time, she helped me to see the lies I was believing and helped me replace them with the truth. We wrestled through my issues of perfectionism and performance based worth, worked on self-care, and most importantly sought Jesus and applied biblical truth to all that I was going through. I saw Lynn for 2 years, and am a completely different person because of the work we did in counseling. I highly recommend her.
